– The violence in some of Jacksonville’s neighborhoods has persisted, with the proverb “The more things change, the more they stay the same” aptly describing the situation.
Shooting Involving Rapper Foolio
– Jacksonville rapper Foolio, whose real name is Charles Jones, was recently shot and injured on November 8th in the Riverside area of Jacksonville.
– Foolio went live on Instagram after the shooting, stating that he was only grazed in the leg and that he shot back in self-defense.
– This was not the first time Foolio had been shot – he was also shot in Houston, Texas in July 2020 and went live from his hospital bed then as well.
Rivalry Between Gangs
– Foolio is an admitted member of the group KTA, while the group ATK, led by rapper Yungeen Ace, was involved in a viral music video “Who I Smoke” that referenced the shooting of Foolio in Houston.
– Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams has stated that both KTA and ATK are dangerous gangs.
Previous Shooting Involving Foolio’s Brother
– In February 2019, Foolio’s 16-year-old brother, Adrian Dennard Gainer Jr. (aka Bibby), was shot and killed at a Moncrief area apartment complex.
– Gainer’s shooting death, along with numerous other Jacksonville murders, have been mocked in rap videos that have garnered millions of views and national headlines.
Ongoing Investigations
– Police reported finding evidence at the scene of Foolio’s recent shooting, including a white T-shirt, spent casings, and a possible AR15 with rounds in the magazine, but no arrests have been made.
