The executive vice president and general manager of WCPO-TV responded to a viral video circulating on social media on Friday evening, which involves Steve Raleigh’s family.
The video, which has been circulating on social media this week, shows two elderly people injured on the ground at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse parking lot following an altercation with the Raleigh family.
WCPO-TV posted a statement from Jeff Brogan, the station’s executive vice president and general manager, on their Facebook page at 5:30 pm:
“We are aware of the incident involving Steve Raleigh’s family. The incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed against anyone. Steve has shared his perspective on the incident with our leadership. His account aligns with the police report and what we have reviewed on the video. The video does not show the entire sequence of events from start to finish. We will continue to monitor the official findings.”
Within less than two hours, the post had over 1,000 comments and 180 shares.
By Friday evening, Raleigh had deleted all of his social media accounts.
The video was recorded on Saturday, June 22. Raleigh and his wife Julie, who is the daughter of retired Hamilton County Sheriff/Judge/Prosecutor Simon Leis Jr., were seen in the video after an incident at the parking lot. The woman filming said, “Call 911,” after showing an elderly woman lying on the ground with blood coming from her head.
According to CityBeat, the Cincinnati police report stated that Raleigh’s son Carter “was involved in an assault incident” at the Boathouse parking lot on June 22. Leis owns the vehicle that Carter Raleigh was driving, as cited by CityBeat, quoting the police report.
WVXU contacted the Cincinnati Police Department but had not reviewed the police report as of the time of the article.
Raleigh was hired as the chief meteorologist in July 2005 and has been absent from the station’s early evening newscasts, with Cameron Hardin handling the weather forecasts.
Raleigh and his wife are active in fundraising for non-profit organizations across the Greater Cincinnati region. Their pet project is Madi’s House in Mount Airy, established after the death of their daughter Madison in 2019. They have three other children: Carter, Kyle, and Chelsea.
